Sarah Winton is an International Security and Economics Postdoctoral Fellow. She will receive her Ph.D. in economics from the London School of Economics in August 2026. She holds a B.A. in economics and international relations from the University of Pennsylvania. After her fellowship, she will join the Department of Economics at Stockholm University as an Assistant Professor.

Sarah’s research lies at the intersection of development, labor, and urban/spatial economics. Combining primary data collection, field experiments, and structural general-equilibrium models, she examines how migration and forced displacement reshape livelihoods and labor markets. In her job market paper, she studies how granting refugees the right to work impacts the occupational allocation of refugee and host worker labor. She also has work evaluating the effects of forced relocation on slum residents and their non-evicted neighbors. Her research is predominantly based in the Middle East.

At Dartmouth, Sarah will work on submitting her current working papers for publication and further developing ongoing projects into papers.
