Pre-Doctoral Fellows Program

The Department of Economics at Dartmouth offers several one- to two-year fellowships for recent graduates interested in pursuing a PhD in economics, public policy, or related fields. These positions—funded either as post-baccalaureate or pre-doctoral fellowships—provide full-time research experience under the mentorship of Dartmouth faculty. Fellows participate actively in the intellectual life of the department, attending seminars and workshops, while developing the empirical, analytical, and programming skills needed for graduate study and independent research. The program is designed to prepare fellows for admission to top PhD programs and for successful careers as economists and policy researchers.

Post-Doctoral and Ph.D. Fellows

The Department of Economics at Dartmouth hosts post-doctoral fellows who are early in their research careers and preparing for careers as independent scholars in academia or policy institutions. Appointments typically last one year and provide fellows with time, resources, and mentorship to advance their research agendas and publish in leading journals. Fellows work closely with faculty, present in departmental seminars, and contribute to an active community of economists. The program emphasizes research independence, intellectual engagement, and professional development, helping fellows strengthen their scholarship and influence in the profession.
